On August 6, 1998, the Commission adopted a Notice of Inquiry (NOI) pursuant to section 706 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 and established a pleading cycle requiring parties to file comments by September 8, 1998, and reply comments by October 8, 1998.⁽¹⁾ On August 6, 1998, the Commission also adopted a Memorandum Opinion and Order and Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) in response to six petitions for relief filed by various parties. The Commission established a pleading cycle for the NPRM requiring parties to file comments by September 21, 1998, and reply comments by October 13, 1998.⁽²⁾ Because of the proximity of these dates to certain holidays, the Bureau has revised the pleading cycle as follows:

NOI (CC Docket No. 98-146): Interested parties may file comments on or before September 14, 1998, and reply comments on or before October 8, 1998.

NPRM (CC Docket No. 98-147): Interested parties may file comments on or before September 25, 1998, and reply comments on or before October 16, 1998.

This is a revised schedule for comments and replies only; all other procedural requirements set forth in the NOI and NPRM remain unchanged.
