Washington, D.C.: The Federal Communications Commission today issued a $55,000 Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture against WQAM License Limited Partnership, a subsidiary of Beasley Broadcast Group, Inc., for the willful broadcast of sexually explicit material over Station WQAM(AM), Miami, Florida.
The Commission concluded that the material apparently met the agency's indecency standard and proposed the maximum forfeiture permitted by law for each of two broadcasts because of the graphic and pandering nature of the material involved.
Adopted by the Commission: September 22, 2004, Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture (FCC 04-225). Chairman Powell, Commissioners Abernathy and Adelstein. Commissioners Copps and Martin approving in part, concurring in part and issuing statements.
