FCC DENIES INDECENCY COMPLAINTS AGAINST SEGMENT INTRODUCING NOVEMBER 15, 2004 “MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL” BROADCAST

Washington, D.C.: The Federal Communications Commission today issued a Memorandum Opinion and Order denying complaints alleging that affiliates of the ABC Television Network aired indecent material during a November 15, 2004 segment that introduced ABC's “Monday Night Football” telecast. The segment featured a locker room encounter between Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens and actress Nicollette Sheridan from ABC's “Desperate Housewives” program.

The Commission concluded that the episode is not sufficiently explicit or graphic to be deemed indecent.

By the Commission: Chairman Powell, Commissioners Abernathy, Copps, issuing a separate statement, Martin and Adelstein, FCC 05-53, March 14, 2005.
