COMMISSIONER GLORIA TRISTANI TO DEPART
THE FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION ON SEPTEMBER 7, 2001
"It has been a great honor to serve as a member of the FCC during this period. I am proud to have advocated for the E-rate and better access to telecommunications for all Americans. After nearly four years, however, I believe it is time for me to move on. I plan to return home to New Mexico in the near future," Tristani said.
Tristani, a Democrat, was appointed by President Clinton and took office on November 3, 1997. Previously, she had been elected to the New Mexico State Corporation Commission (SCC) in 1994 and served as SCC Chairman in 1996.
"I would like to thank my past and present colleagues and the staff at the agency for their commitment to public service and their dedication to this institution. The FCC is entrusted with enhancing communications for all Americans, and I will always value the agency's core mission: to serve the public interest."
