Chairman Kennard has hit another home run with today's announcement that Tom Sugrue has agreed to serve as the new Chief of the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau.

I enthusiastically welcome Tom back to government service. A longtime champion of competition, and an expert on spectrum issues, he served with distinction under Chairmen Fowler and Sikes at the FCC and Assistant Secretaries Obuchowski and Irving at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. With his deep knowledge, wide experience, and great vision, to say nothing of his engaging personality, I know Tom will provide the able leadership needed in the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau. The industry and the public will be well served.
