PRESS STATEMENT OF WILLIAM E. KENNARD ON RE-APPOINTMENT OF CHERYL L. PARRINO AS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF THE UNIVERSAL SERVICE ADMINISTRATIVE COMPANY

Today I am pleased to announce the re-appointment of Cheryl L. Parrino as Chief Executive Officer of the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC). I have had the good fortune and great pleasure of working with Cheryl when she served with distinction as the Chair of the Wisconsin Public Service Commission, and more recently in her initial term as the CEO of USAC. I am pleased that USAC and the vital universal service mechanisms it oversees will continue to have the benefit of Cheryl's dedication, intellect, and prudent judgment.

Today also marks the filing of papers with the Delaware Secretary of State necessary to bring about the merger of the Schools and Libraries Corporation and the Rural Health Care Corporation into USAC. I am confident that the newly merged USAC will be well-positioned to ensure the success of the support mechanisms for low income consumers, for rural and high cost areas, for schools and libraries, and for rural health care providers.

I look forward to working with the new USAC, its dedicated staff, and its first-rate CEO, as we make universal service a success for all Americans.
