CHAIRMAN KENNARD STATEMENT ON SEPTEMBER 4 FIFTH CIRCUIT DECISION

"The real winners in today's decision are America's consumers. This decision reaffirms that the Bell Companies must open their markets to competition before providing long distance service. This means more choice and lower rates for telephone service."
