STATEMENT OF CHAIRMAN WILLIAM E. KENNARD IN RESPONSE TO THE COURT OF APPEALS RULING DENYING NEXTWAVE'S MOTION FOR STAY OF THE C-BLOCK ELECTION DATE

The FCC is gratified that the Court of Appeals denied NextWave's motion for stay of the Commission's June 8, 1998 C-block election date. This decision helps all C-block licensees by allowing the C-block licensees to restructure their licenses and to become active competitors in the wireless telecommunications industry.
It is time to bring this process to a close so that the FCC and C-block licensees can move forward with providing the public with new wireless services.
