STATEMENT OF CHAIRMAN REED E. HUNDT ON SENATE CONFIRMATION OF
NEW FCC COMMISSIONERS
I wish to express my heartiest congratulations to the four new FCC commissioners confirmed by the United States Senate: Harold Furchtgott-Roth, Michael Powell, Gloria Tristani, and of course my dear friend, respected colleague, and terrific general counsel, the new chairman of the FCC, William Kennard.
The new commissioners, along with Commissioner Ness, have a high calling to serve the American people by taking the wise steps that will promote economic growth and public benefits from the communications revolution. I know each and all of the members of the new FCC will respond with skill and honor to the opportunity conferred on them by the President and the Senate.
If the members of the new FCC team enjoy their jobs even half as much as I and my team did, they'll have a very happy experience in serving the American people. I thank the President and the Congress and the numerous friends, acquaintances, colleagues, co-employees and debating partners who have enriched my four years in public service. I wish you all continued success in preserving and promoting our country's democracy, our economy, and our children's future in the information age.
