PUBLIC NOTICE FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION 445 12TH STREET, S.W. WASHINGTON, D.C. 20554 News media information 202/418-0500 Fax-On-Demand 202/418-2830 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov ftp.fcc.gov DA 99-1216 Released: June 22, 1999 WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU TO CONDUCT MORE UNIVERSAL LICENSING SYSTEM (ULS) INTERACTIVE DEMONSTRATIONS IN JULY 1999 The Federal Communications Commission's (FCC's) Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (WTB) will conduct additional interactive demonstrations of its Universal Licensing System (ULS) in July 1999. WTB also is seeking comments and suggestions from those interested in attending such demonstrations in order to better coordinate and design the events. ULS is a new, interactive licensing system developed by the Bureau to consolidate and replace eleven existing licensing systems used to process applications and grant licenses in wireless services. ULS provides numerous benefits, including fast and easy electronic filing, improved data accuracy through automated edit checking of applications, and enhanced electronic access to licensing information. WTB will hold two demonstrations per day on the dates listed below in the ITC Training Room on the 12th Street level (main entrance level) of the Portals building at 445 12th Street, S.W. Due to requests from individuals outside the Washington, DC area, WTB has scheduled the sessions on consecutive days. On the days with two sessions, the first session will run from 9:30 am until noon and the second from 1:30 pm until 4:00 pm. The topics for the June demonstrations are: July 14th -- Finding information in ULS (License Search and Application Search) (morning session) and General License Filings (afternoon session) July 15th -- Transfers and Assignments (morning session only) July 28th -- Finding information in ULS (License Search and Application Search) (morning session, with Microwave data to be included) and General License Filings (afternoon session, with a preview of Microwave filing) July 29th -- Transfers and Assignments (morning session only) WTB has chosen the above topics based on comments from the demonstrations held in March, April, May and June and will add, delete or modify future demonstrations as interest dictates. WTB plans to hold ULS demonstrations on additional wireless services as they are deployed. Comment also is requested as to whether WTB should hold interactive demonstrations at its Gettysburg, PA, office, and on future topics for the demonstrations. Parties interested in attending the interactive demonstrations and/or providing comments should contact Randy Byrd at (202) 418-0584, or via e-mail at rbyrd@fcc.gov. Please specify which session(s) you would like to attend and provide a telephone number and e-mail address at which you can be contacted. You may also indicate what specific service(s) are of most interest to you. Seating is limited and will be assigned on a first come, first served basis (requests will be limited to one attendee per session per organization, company or firm). Note: The ITC Training Room accommodates up to 14 persons per session, and an attendee may have to share a computer monitor with another attendee. -FCC-
