                    ANNOUNCING THE HIGH BIDDERS IN THE
           AUCTION OF TEN NATIONWIDE NARROWBAND PCS LICENSES;  
                     WINNING BIDS TOTAL $617,006,674


     The Commission completed its auction of ten nationwide narrowband personal
communication services (PCS) licenses on Friday, July 29.  The names of the high bidders
and the licenses they bid on are listed below.  The total of the winning bids for the ten
licenses was $617,006,674. 


     Market N-1 [50-50 KHz paired] - Paging Network of Virginia - $80,000,000   

     Market N-2 [50-50 KHz paired] - Paging Network of Virginia - $80,000,000

     Market N-3 [50-50 KHz paired] - KDM Messaging Company - $80,000,000

     Market N-4 [50-50 KHz paired] - KDM Messaging Company - $80,000,000

     Market N-5 [50-50 KHz paired] - Nationwide Wireless Network Corp. - $80,000,000

     Market N-6 [50-12.5 KHz paired] - Airtouch Paging - $47,001,001

     Market N-7 [50-12.5 KHz paired] - BellSouth Wireless - $47,505,673

     Market N-8 [50-12.5 KHz paired] - Nationwide Wireless Network Corp. - $47,500,000

     Market N-10 [50 KHz unpaired] - Paging Network of Virginia - $37,000,000

     Market N-11 [50 KHz unpaired] - Pagemart II, Inc. - $38,000,000

     Market N-9 had been awarded previously to Nationwide Wireless Network Corp.
(Mtel) under the Commission's pioneer's preference policies.    

     Winning bidders are reminded that they must submit a down payment sufficient to
bring their total deposits with the Commission up to 20 percent of the sum of their winning
bids.  This payment must be made to Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh on or before Monday,
August 8, 1994.
