COMMON CARRIER MOBILE JULY 21, 1994 SERVICES INFORMATION ELECTRONIC PUBLIC ACCESS AVAILABLE FOR NATIONWIDE NARROWBAND PCS AUCTION RESULTS Ten nationwide narrowband Personal Communication Service (PCS) licenses will be auctioned beginning July 25, 1994 at 10:00 A.M. eastern time. The auction will be held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. and will use electronic bidding in a simultaneous multiple round auction i.e. all ten licenses will be auctioned at once. Each bidding round will last one hour, and at the end of the round, the winning bids will be available to the public. Cantor Fitzgerald, who is the subcontractor for this auction, has agreed to make the results of each round available shortly after the conclusion of each round to subscribers of the Dow Jones Telerate network. Additionally, Cantor Fitzgerald has agreed to transmit the results of each bidding round over this network in a manner which can be accessed using an IBM- compatible personal computer and a Hayes-compatible modem. Software necessary to access this network is available on a diskette available at no charge from Cantor Fitzgerald by calling (212) 938-4200. The FCC will also make all bids in each round available on the Internet network. Interested parties can download the round-by-round bids by accessing the FCC Internet nod via anonymous FTP @fcc.gov. The file will be available approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of each round of bidding. The files will be sequentially numbered to correspond to the round number and named "pcsrd001", "pcsrd002", etc. The files will reside in the "pub" directory under a subdirectory named "pcsauctions". The first file is expected to be available at approximately 11:30. Bidding results distributed either on the Dow Jones Telerate network or the Internet are provided purely for the convenience of the public and are unofficial in nature; the official bidding results will be generated exclusively by the bidding system which is on site at the auction location. -FCC-
