Copps has announced the interim members of his personal staff. These advisors will be on detail to the Commissioner’s office until he finalizes his permanent staffing decisions. JORDAN GOLDSTEIN Jordan Goldstein has been named interim Senior Legal Advisor. In addition to his duties as senior advisor, Mr. Goldstein will focus on common carrier matters. Mr. Goldstein most recently served as Legal Advisor to Commissioner Susan Ness. Prior to that, he served as legal counsel to the Common Carrier Bureau Chief and as an attorney in the Policy and Program Planning Division of the Common Carrier Bureau. Before joining the FCC, Mr. Goldstein was an attorney advisor in the Office of Chief Counsel of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. He also previously served as a law clerk for The Honorable James B. Loken of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a policy analyst for the congressional Arms Control and Foreign Policy Caucus and as a legislative aide to Senator William Proxmire of Wisconsin. Mr. Goldstein received a B.A., with Distinction, in Economics and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin, an M.A. in International Relations from The Johns Hopkins University, and a J.D. from Stanford Law School, where he served on the Stanford Law Review. SUSANNA ZWERLING Susanna Zwerling has been named interim Legal Advisor. Ms. Zwerling will advise the Commissioner on mass media and cable issues. Ms. Zwerling most recently served as Assistant Bureau Chief for Planning and Communication in the Mass Media Bureau, responsible for planning, external relations and consumer outreach. Prior to this position, she was special counsel to the Mass Media Bureau Chief and an attorney- advisor in the Policy and Rules Division. Before joining the Commission in July 1997, Ms. Zwerling was a trial attorney in the Telecommunications Task Force of the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice. While at Justice, she was detailed to the Federal Trade Commission to investigate the acquisition of Turner Broadcasting System by Time Warner, Inc. Prior to that, Ms. Zwerling was an associate with the law firm of Debevoise & Plimpton in New York and a law clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. She has also served as a legislative assistant to then-Congressman Charles E. Schumer of New York. Ms. Zwerling holds a J.D. degree from New York University School of Law and a B.A. from Wesleyan University. LAUREN MAXIM VAN WAZER Lauren Maxim Van Wazer has been named interim Legal Advisor for wireless and international issues. She has been serving as a senior staff attorney in the Commercial Wireless Division of the FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau since 1999. Prior to joining the FCC, Ms. Van Wazer worked as an associate at the law firm of Arnold & Porter and as a law clerk to the Honorable Ralph B. Guy, Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Ms. Van Wazer, a lawyer and an engineer, received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the Georgetown University Law Center, where she was an editor of the Georgetown Law Journal and a member of the Order of the Coif. Ms. Van Wazer is also a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Moore School of Electrical Engineering, where she received a B.S.E. in Systems Science Engineering.
