|||||
Washington, DC -- Stagg Newman, Chief Technologist, has completed his two
year appointment and will leave the Commission on January 14, 2000. He is relocating to
North Carolina for family reasons. Newman will be joining McKinsey and Company as
Senior Telecommunications Practice Expert. William E. Kennard, chairman of the FCC said, "I want to thank Stagg for his enthusiastic service to the Commission. Stagg's energy and insight in working on the critical interplay of technology and policy, particularly in the areas of broadband access, advanced services, and convergence, have been invaluable as we have implemented the '96 Act." Newman said, "I am grateful that I had the opportunity to work at the Commission and try to make a difference during the profound changes caused by convergence, the Internet, and the '96 Telecom Act. I will always treasure both the valuable experience and the highly professional and dedicated colleagues at the Commission with whom I worked."
