FCC LAUNCHES NEW INTERNET HOMEPAGE
Site Is Easier to Navigate, Features More Colorful and Dynamic Graphics

Today the FCC launched a new Internet homepage that features an easier to navigate layout, much improved graphics and updated information.

The FCC's homepage (www.fcc.gov) has been enormously popular since its inception in 1996. The first month the site logged 19,000 "hits" per day. In May of 1999, the page logged 400,000 "hits" per day. The new homepage is the first complete redesign of the original page.

Among the most obvious improvements to the homepage is a scrolling headline bar at the top featuring current FCC initiatives. Internet visitors are just a click away from complete information on any of these topics. The new format makes it easier for persons not familiar with the FCC's organization and procedures to find the information they want.

The site is also available in a text-only version, making it more convenient for persons with slower loading computers and for the disability community.

The new site is a work in progress and the FCC is eager to hear from users with suggested improvements. Information on how to contact the FCC is at the bottom of each page of the website.
