ALLIANCE FOR TELECOMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRY SOLUTIONS' TESTING OF INTERCONNECTED TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORK INDICATES NO ANOMALIES
The Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) has announced the results
of its Y2K testing finding no Y2K related anomalies within U.S. interconnected telecommunications
networks. The April 14, 1999, ATIS report is the latest in a series of comprehensive initiatives
undertaken by the industry to test its Y2K fixes to the telephone network. |
Commissioner Michael Powell, Chair of the FCC's Task Force for Year 2000 Conversion, applauded the hard work and dedication of ATIS in promoting Year 2000 readiness in the telecommunications industry. "The expertise and experience of ATIS is invaluable to the efforts of the telecommunications industry to prepare for Y2K," he commented. The FCC has been working with ATIS and its member-companies since Commissioner Powell assumed leadership of the Year 2000 issue in connection with various testing and information-sharing initiatives.
ATIS is a North American standards body that is leading the development of telecommunications standards and operating procedures through it's sponsored committees and forums.
