September 9, 1998 DREMA L. JOHNSON NAMED CHAIRMAN KENNARD'S CONFIDENTIAL ASSISTANT Drema L. Johnson, formerly Special Assistant to Thomas S. Foley, a Partner in the law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer, Feld, has been named Confidential Assistant to FCC Chairman William Kennard. Foley is former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and currently Ambassador to Japan. Johnson has been at Akin, Gump since 1994. Prior to that she has held executive assistant positions in a number of area law firms. She has also worked in the offices of two Members of Congress. Chairman Kennard said, "I am looking forward to working with Drema. She brings to this position an enormous wealth of experience that will serve our office well." Johnson attended East Tennessee State University and graduated from George Mason University. She lives with her husband, Jess A. Johnson and three children, Jess Jr., Katelyn and Ashley, in McLean, VA. - FCC -
