WILLIAM P. ROGERSON NAMED FCC CHIEF ECONOMIST |

William P. Rogerson has been named Chief Economist of the FCC. Rogerson is
currently Professor of Economics and Chair of the Economics Department at Northwestern
University, Evanston, IL. He has also taught at The University of Alberta, California Institute of Technology, and Stanford. His research and teaching interests include incentives and information in markets and organizations, the economics of defense procurement, industrial organization, regulation, health care and cost accounting. He has been a consultant to the Federal Trade Commission, the Institute for Defense Analysis, the Logistics Management Institute, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the RAND Corporation and the U.S. Department of Justice. FCC Chairman William Kennard welcomed Rogerson noting, "The Commission has come to rely heavily on the economic analyses done by its Chief Economist as it makes its decisions on the road to increased competition in the telecom marketplace. I am delighted that an economist of Bill Rogerson's stature will be joining us." He received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Alberta and his Ph. D. from California Institute of Technology.
