SUSAN FOX NAMED SENIOR LEGAL ADVISOR TO CHAIRMAN KENNARD

FCC Chairman William E. Kennard has named Susan Fox to be his Senior Legal Advisor. She will also advise the Chairman on mass media issues.

Fox served as Special Counsel to Chairman Kennard in his previous position as the FCC's General Counsel. In that capacity she advised the General Counsel on implementation of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, and on a variety of communications issues, including mass media, cable, common carrier and wireless matters.

Fox also served as interim chair of the Commission's Competition Enforcement Task Force.

Prior to serving as Special Counsel, Fox was a trial attorney in the Litigation Division of the Office of General Counsel, where she practiced appellate and district court litigation on behalf of the Commission.

Before coming to the FCC, Fox was with the law firm of Hogan & Hartson in Washington, DC. She also served as law clerk to the Hon. H. Robert Mayer, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

She holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and a B.A. in Engineering from Lafayette College.

She lives in Arlington, VA, with her husband, Jeffrey Markowitz, a trial attorney at the Department of Justice.
