CHIEF OF THE FCC'S CONSUMER INFORMATION BUREAU,
ON FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION'S PROPOSAL TO CHANGE TELEMARKETING RULES



Washington, DC -- The following is a statement by K. Dane Snowden, Chief of the Federal Communications Commission's Consumer Information Bureau, on the Federal Trade Commission's proposal announced on January 22 to change the Telemarketing Sales Rule:
We at the Federal Communications Commission share the Federal Trade Commission's commitment to ensuring that consumers' concerns are addressed by telemarketing rules. We will be following closely the progress of the FTC's recent proposal to create a national do-not-call registry to help consumers in their interactions with telemarketers.
