                COMMON CARRIER BUREAU ANNOUNCES 
           EX PARTE MEETING TO DISCUSS DEVELOPING AN 
                 INDUSTRY COALITION TO ADDRESS
        SOFTWARE FLAGGING AND ELECTRONIC AUDIT TRACKING 
                        REQUIREMENTS OF 
        CUSTOMER PROPRIETARY NETWORK INFORMATION (CPNI) 
                      CC DOCKET NO. 96-115

The Policy and Program Planning Division of the Common Carrier Bureau will be holding an ex
parte meeting to discuss developing an industry coalition to address the software flagging and
electronic audit tracking requirements in the CPNI 2nd Report and Order, CC Docket No.
96-115, Telecommunications Carriers' Use of Customer Proprietary Network Information and
other Customer Information.  This meeting will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Thursday,
December 10, 1998, in the FCC Training Room, located at 2000 M. Street NW Washington DC,
20554.  

The public is reminded that this proceeding is being treated as a "permit-but-disclose"
proceeding for purposes of the Commision's ex parte rules. See generally 47 C.F.R. 
1.1200-1.1216. Parties making oral ex parte presentations are reminded that memoranda
summarizing the presentations must contain summaries of the substance of the presentations and
not merely a listing of the subjects discussed. More than a one or two sentence description of the
views and arguments presented is generally required.  See 47 C.F.R.  1.1206(b)(2), as revised.
Other rules pertaining to oral and written  presentations are set forth in Section 1.1206(b) as well.
Interested parties are to file with the Commission Secretary  at Secretary, FCC, at 445 Twelfth
Street, S.W., Washington, D.C. 20554 or at 1919 M Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20554, from
4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and serve Ceci Stephens, Policy and Program Planning Division,
Common Carrier Bureau, FCC, Room 544, 1919 M Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20554, and
ITS, 2131 20th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036, with copies of written ex parte
presentations or summaries of oral ex parte presentations in these proceedings in the manner
specified above.
