NEWS February 13, 1998 JOHN MULETA, DEPUTY CHIEF, COMMON CARRIER BUREAU, TO LEAVE FCC John Muleta, Deputy Chief of the FCC's Common Carrier Bureau, has announced his plans to leave the Commission in February. Muleta will join PSINet, Inc. as Vice President in the company's Telecom Operations Group. In thanking Muleta for his service to the FCC, Chairman Kennard said: "John has made significant and lasting contributions to the FCC both as a manager and as a lawyer. He brought to the table a great deal of innovative thinking and business discipline that will be missed. I'm sorry to see John go, but I know that all of us at the Commission wish him well on his new adventure." Muleta has been Deputy Chief of the Common Carrier Bureau since September 1997. Muleta previously served as Chief of the Common Carrier Bureau's Enforcement Division and as an attorney in the Office of Plans & Policy. Prior to joining the Commission, he worked at Coopers & Lybrand as a member of its Telecommunications & Media Practice Group and at the GTE Corporation where he was a manager at several Florida-based units. - FCC -
