Toll
Free Numbers
The Commission’s policies and rules are designed to ensure the efficient,
equitable, and orderly allocation of toll free numbers. The Commission's authority
to regulate toll free numbers is based on its exclusive jurisdiction over numbering
administration pursuant to Section
251 (e) of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. The Commission's toll free rules are set
forth in 47
C.F.R. Sections 52.101 et seq., and toll free numbers are administered
in a central database, the SMS/800
Database.
