US Department of Transportation's (DOT) Role in Next Generation 9-1-1

The Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau will begin offering a Speakers Series to allow an opportunity for public safety subject matter experts to present information and initiate discussions on issues involving public safety communications. These will be one hour sessions and will offer speakers on a variety of topics involving the public safety community.
The first presenter will be Laurie Flaherty, Program Analyst, Office of Emergency Medical Services, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, who will speak on the DOT's role in 9-1-1 issues. Ms. Flaherty will address the Research and Innovative Technologies Administration and Next Generation 9-1-1 and will discuss DOT's current role in 9-1-1 and future plans for Next Generation 9-1-1. Ms. Flaherty will make a brief presentation, after which she will answer questions and answers from first responders and PSAP representatives.
