The Operations and Emergency Management Division

Mission

The Operations and Emergency Management Division (OEM) manages and leads the FCC’s all hazards emergency preparedness and response.

Execution

The Division coordinates the Commission's public safety, homeland security, national security, disaster management and related functions on a day-to-day basis and during incidents or other emergencies. The Division is also the lead point of contact for coordination with state and local governmental agencies.

The division handles many inter-governmental coordination activities regarding National Security with:

• Components of the Department of Defense (DOD)
• Components of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)(e.g., the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Office of Emergency Communications (OEC)
