Frequently Asked Questions on:
Finding Jobs
Can I be automatically notified of vacancies as soon as they open?

There are two separate ways to be automatically notified of vacancies in the FCC:

System How to Register Notes
FCCJobs Notification Login to FCCJobs (instructions) and select "Edit Personal Information." At the bottom of the screen are "Notification Preferences."
  • If you choose to be notified of "all vacancies"expect to receive between 10-20 emails per day.
  • You can only limit the jobs you see by series.
FCC Email Vacancy Notifier Visit the FCC Email Vacancy Notifier, enter your email address, and select the types of jobs you are interested in.
  • This system only sends (at most) one email per day.
  • You can limit the jobs you see by grade, series, and geographic location.
  • It will not notify you of vacancies that are only open to current FCC employees.

How do I unsubscribe from the email notifications?

To unsubscribe, login to FCCJobs, click on “Edit Personal Information,” at the bottom of the screen are “Notification Preferences,” and select from the options listed “I would NOT like to be notified by email about new job postings.”

I unsubscribed from email notifications and I'm still receiving them. What happened?

When you unsubscribe from email notifications in FCCJobs the change will not take effect until the day after the action is processed. As a result, you may continue to receive emails for a few hours after you change your preferences. If you receive emails more than 24 hours after you unsubscribe, please let us know.

I elected to receive email notifications and I'm not receiving them.

Please login to FCCJobs, select "Edit Personal Information," and click "Next." You should then verify that the email address that you entered into FCCJobs is correct. It is very important that FCCJobs has your current, correct email address not only to receive job notifications, but also to receive other official correspondence relating to your job applications. Please remember that email notifications are provided as a courtesy to our applicants to help them find jobs within the FCC.

Why should I register and put in all my personal information when all I want to do is browse your vacancies?

You can always browse FCC vacancies on the USAJOBS website. FCCJobs is designed primarily for online application and streamlining application procedures. It doesn't particularly matter where you browse or review the vacancy, but when you're ready to apply for a job, you must apply through FCCJobs. It is generally easier to browse jobs using FCCJobs (once you are a registered user) because FCCJobs will only show you those jobs that you are eligible to apply for. This saves you the time and frustration of applying to a job for which you are not eligible.

What cities and states do you hire in?

The FCC has employees in several states, but most FCC employees are located in 2 places: Washington DC, and Gettysburg, PA, so naturally that is where most vacancies are located.
