Indian Home Loan Guarantee Program/Native American Housing Block Grant
www.hud.gov/offices/pih/
The Indian Home Loan Guarantee Program (Section 184) gives Native Americans access to sources of private mortgage financing by providing loan guarantees to lenders. Section 184 covers family homes located in an Indian or Alaska Native area where the land may be tribal trust, allotted individual trust or fee simple.

Block grants allow tribes or tribally designated housing entities to provide a wide range of housing services within their own communities. Under this program tribes determine how the funds should be used to address needs specific to their own communities. The services which may be provided under this program include housing development, housing assistance, housing services, and housing management services, crime prevention and safety, training and technical assistance and creative approaches to solving problems.
