I was appalled recently to learn that the National Federation of the Blind (NFD) had taken a negative stand on this issue. If that is so, they certainly do not speak MAR 2 02000 for me, and I am an NFB member. As a legally blind person, I watch avidly for whatever DVS programs are available to me( mostly from WGBH, Boston, on Public TV). I feel left out of standard TV programs because I cannot fully understand them. This is a quality- of- life issue for me, because DVS access permits me to enjoy such programs. Understanding them makes all the difference! Th same is true for movie videos when they are enhanced by DVS. I sincerely hope that access will be expanded by passage of the proposed FCC ruling.
