           STATEMENT OF FCC CHAIRMAN WILLIAM KENNARD
                                
     I want to thank the member of the President's Advisory Committee on the Public Interest
Obligations of Digital Television Broadcasters for their hard work on developing innovative ways
for digital television to serve the public.
     I look forward to studying the proposals contained in their report and working with the
members of the Committee and broadcasters to make new ideas that serve the public and
strengthen broadcasting a reality.
