      STATEMENT OF CHAIRMAN REED HUNDT ON ADOPTION ON CABLE INSIDE
                              WIRING RULES

       
       The Commission's decision today on inside wiring establishes a set of rules that are
pro-competition, pro-consumer, and fair.  The new rules should make it easier for new
entrants to compete in the distribution of video programming and promote growth in the
telecommunications industry.

       With today's Order the Commission continues to take steps to eliminate barriers to
competition in markets for telecommunications services.
