On September 15, 1999, the Commission released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) seeking comment on whether the Commission should adopt all or some portion of the original CALLS proposal. On March 8, 2000, the CALLS members filed a written ex parte submission containing a modified version of the proposal (modified proposal). In addition, Sprint and AT&T submitted written ex parte letters on February 25, 2000 in which they made a number of commitments regarding passing through the benefits received under the CALLS proposal to consumers. A Public Notice released March 8, 2000, DA 00-533, established March 30, 2000 as the deadline for filing comments on the modified proposal and the AT&T and Sprint ex parte letters, and April 13, 2000 as the deadline for filing reply comments. The filing deadline for comments is extended until April 3, 2000, and the filing deadline for reply comments is extended until April 17, 2000. This extension is made to assure that all parties will have an opportunity to review the CALLS submissions and an opportunity to file comments that will develop a complete record in the proceeding. Comments on the revised Initial Regulatory Flexibility Analysis (IRFA), as set forth in the March 8, 2000 Public Notice, will be due on the same filing deadlines as the general comments comments will be due on April 3, 2000 and reply comments will be due on April 17, 2000. Pursuant to Paperwork Reduction Act requirements, public and agency comments on the information collections contained in the modified CALLS proposal and ex parte filings are due at the same time as other comments on the Notice. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) comments are due May 15, 2000, i.e., 60 days from the date of publication of the Notice in the Federal Register. The modified proposal and the AT&T and Sprint ex parte letters are available for reference in the FCC Reference Room, 445 12th Street, S.W., Room CY-A257, Washington, D.C. The documents are also posted on the Internet on the Common Carrier Bureau page of the Commission's website at . Pursuant to Sections 1.415 and 1.419 of the Commission's rules, 47 C.F.R.  1.415, 1.419, interested parties may file comments on or before April 3, 2000. Interested parties may file reply comments on or before April 17, 2000. Comments may be filed using the Commission's Electronic Comment Filing System (ECFS) or by filing paper copies.
