WASHINGTON, D.C. 20554 DA 99-2352 News media information 202/418-0500 Fax-On-Demand 202/418-2830 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov ftp.fcc.gov Released: October 28, 1999 WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU GRANTS 24 C BLOCK BROADBAND PCS LICENSES Auction Event No. 22 Report No. CWD-22-I (Auction No. 22) On October 4, 1999, an Order was released by the Policy and Rules Branch of the Commercial Wireless Division of the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (Bureau), which resolved outstanding issues involving 24 C block broadband PCS licenses won at Auction 22, the C, D, E and F block broadband PCS license auction that closed on April 15, 1999. The Bureau announced on October 5, 1999 that it will grant applications for these 24 licenses provided that each applicant makes its final payment before the deadlines established by the Commission. The final payment deadline was October 20, 1999. A timely final payment was received for all 24 markets. Accordingly, by this Public Notice we announce the grant of the C block broadband PCS licenses listed in Attachment A. We grant these licenses pursuant to Section 309(a) of the Communications Act, 47 U.S.C.  309(a), and Section 0.331 of the Commission's Rules, 47 C.F.R.  0.331, because it will serve the public interest, convenience and necessity. In a public notice regarding Auction 22, released December 23, 1998, the Bureau stated that when auctioned licenses are involved in a pending proceeding, such licenses will be granted at the close of the auction in order to serve the public interest in prompt implementation of PCS service, and that the grant of such licenses will be conditioned on the outcome of pending proceedings. Accordingly, the licenses we grant today are subject to the outcome of any pending litigation that may affect the licenses.
