PUBLIC NOTICE FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION 1919 M STREET, N.W. WASHINGTON, D.C. 20554 News Media Information: (202) 418-0500 Fax-On-Demand: (202) 418-2830 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov ftp.fcc.gov DA 99-564 March 22, 1999 WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU TO CONDUCT MORE UNIVERSAL LICENSING SYSTEM (ULS) INTERACTIVE DEMONSTRATIONS The Federal Communications Commission's (FCC's) Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (WTB) will conduct additional interactive demonstrations of its Universal Licensing System (ULS) and is seeking feedback from those interested in attending such demonstrations in order to better coordinate and design the events. ULS is a new, interactive licensing system developed by the Bureau to consolidate and replace eleven existing licensing systems used to process applications and grant licenses in wireless services. ULS provides numerous benefits, including fast and easy electronic filing, improved data accuracy through automated edit checking of applications, and enhanced electronic access to licensing information. FCC will hold two demonstrations per day on the second, third, fourth and fifth Thursday in April in the Portals Training Room in Washington, DC. The first session will run from 9:30 am until noon and the second from 1:30 pm until 4:00 pm. The topics for the April demonstrations are: April 8th -- Finding information in the ULS (License and Application Search) April 15th -- Transfers and Assignments (Form 603 only) April 22nd -- General license filings (focus on Cellular/Paging/PCS modifications, notifications, waivers, and STAs) April 29th -- Finding information in the ULS (License and Application Search) The Commission chose the topics based on feedback from the demonstrations held in March and will add, delete or modify future demonstrations as interest dictates. FCC plans to hold ULS demonstrations on additional wireless services as they are deployed. FCC realizes that some interested parties may be located outside the Washington, DC area and encourages such parties to inform the Commission of their particular needs/locations so that we can attempt to accommodate them. Feedback also is requested as to whether FCC should hold interactive demonstrations at its Gettysburg, PA, office, and on future topics for the demonstrations. Parties interested in attending the interactive demonstrations and/or providing comments should contact Tonya Savage at (202) 418-0596, or via e-mail at tmsavage@fcc.gov. Please indicate which session(s) you would like to attend. Seating is limited and will be assigned on a first come, first served basis (requests will be limited to one attendee per organization, company or firm). Note: FCC is able to accommodate up to 14 persons per session, and an attendee may have to share a computer monitor with another attendee.
