Report No. WT 97-39 WIRELESS TELECOM ACTION October 7, 1997 SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (REGION 5) RECEIVES APPROVAL FOR MINOR AMENDMENT TO ITS REGIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY PLAN (PR DOCKET NO. 89-97) By this notice, the minor amendment to the Region 5 Public Safety Radio Plan (Region 5 Plan) that revises the current channel allotments for radio frequencies in the 821-824/866-869 MHz bands within the Southern California area is approved. The amendment assigns certain frequencies to new users in Region 5. On January 14, 1997, we received a letter dated January 7, 1997 from Region 5 (Southern California) proposing to amend the Region 5 Plan, which was adopted by the Commission on November 8, 1989, Order, General Docket 89-97, 4 FCC Rcd 8352 (1989) and subsequently revised on June 27, 1990, 5 FCC Rcd 4036 (1990), November 4, 1994, 9 FCC Rcd 6716 (1994), and February 28, 1995, 10 FCC Rcd 2824 (1995). In accordance with the Public Safety National Plan, each region is responsible for planning its use of public safety radio frequency spectrum in the 821-824/866-869 MHz bands. Report and Order, General Docket No. 87-112, 3 FCC Rcd 905 (1987). We have reviewed the Region 5 request, and find that the amendment furthers this goal. The amendment is a minor change to the Region 5 Plan and includes concurrences from each of the adjacent Regions 3, 6 and 27. The amendment is, therefore, accepted as submitted. The Secretary's office will place the amended Region 5 Plan in the official docket file where it is available to the public.
