Report No. WT 97-34WIRELESS TELECOM ACTION September 9, 1997 FLORIDA (REGION 9) PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE RECEIVES APPROVAL FOR MINOR AMENDMENT TO ITS REGIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY PLAN (GEN. DOCKET NO. 90-119) By this notice, the Commission announces that the Florida Region 9 Committee proposal to amend the Florida Public Safety Radio Plan (Region 9 Plan) revising the current channel allotments for radio frequencies in the 821-824/866-869 MHz bands within the Florida area is approved. The amendment includes provisions to: - Revise tables of channel allotments (Tables IV and V); - Update names, addresses, and phone numbers for Florida Region 9 Committee members (Table I); - Revise Section 4.5 (Allotment Process and Figure 2) to provide, in effect, a continuously open filing window; and - Add new requirements for Portable "Talkaround-only" Systems. On January 30, 1997, we received a letter dated January 10, 1997 from the Florida Region 9 Committee proposing to amend the Region 9 Plan, which was adopted by the Commission on May 10, 1990, Order, General Docket 90-119, 5 FCC Rcd 3067 (1990), and subsequently revised on May 7, 1991, 6 FCC Rcd 2607 (1991), November 25, 1991, 6 FCC Rcd 7180 (1991), September 17, 1993, 8 FCC Rcd 7038 (1993), March 23, 1994, 9 FCC Rcd 1644 (1994) and June 19, 1995, 10 FCC Rcd 7167 (1995). In accordance with the Public Safety National Plan, each region is responsible for planning its use of public safety radio frequency spectrum in the 821-824/866-869 MHz bands. Report and Order, General Docket No. 87-112, 3 FCC Rcd 905 (1987). We have reviewed the Region 9 request, and find that the amendment furthers this goal. The amendment is considered a minor amendment and includes concurrences from each of the adjacent Regions 1 and 10. The amendment is, therefore, approved as submitted.
