Report No. WT 97-21 WIRELESS TELECOM ACTION May 1, 1997 THE PHILADELPHIA AREA (REGION 28) PUBLIC SAFETY REGIONAL PLANNING UPDATE COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES THE OPENING OF AN APPLICATION FILING WINDOW FOR THE 821-824/866-869 MHz BAND The Region 28 Public Safety Regional Planning Update Committee announces a Filing Window for submittal of radio channel allotment requests and license applications for radio frequencies in the 821-824/866-869 MHz Band. Report and Order, FCC General Docket No. 89-573, 5 FCC Rcd 388 (1990). Region 28 is responsible for planning public safety radio frequency spectrum usage within Eastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Delaware in accordance with the Public Safety National Plan. Report and Order, General Docket No. 87-112, 3 FCC Rcd 905 (1987). The filing window for Region 28 applications will be from May 1, 1997 to June 30, 1997, inclusive. Applications must be postmarked after 0001 hrs. on May 1, 1997 and prior to 2400 hrs. on June 30, 1997. No applications for this window will be accepted before the opening or after the closing of this application filing window. All applications must be sent to: Chairman, Region 28 Committee State of Delaware, Office of Telecommunications Management 801 Silver Lake Blvd. Dover, Delaware 19901-0370 The evaluation of applications will be done by the Region 28 Planning Update Committee. Each application will be rated and scored for completeness of application, system need, coverage, loading, funding and other criteria. Applications receiving a high ranking may not necessarily receive a frequency assignment as certain areas in Region 28 are currently depleted of 800 MHz spectrum. In the Philadelphia Metropolitan Area, applications will be considered but are not encouraged. The next meeting of the Region 28 Regional Planning Update Committee is scheduled to take place at 10:00 a.m. on May 1, 1997 at the Chester County Communications Center, West Chester, Pennsylvania.
