        FCC ANNOUNCES GRANT OF BROADBAND PERSONAL COMMUNICATIONS
    SERVICES D and E BLOCK LICENSES TO WESTERN PCS BTA I CORPORATION
                                    
                                    
                                    
                                    
       On September 26, 1997, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau, under delegated
authority, conditionally granted Western PCS BTA I Corporation (Western) five broadband
Personal Communications Services (PCS) licenses for the D and E blocks.  The licenses are
listed in Attachment A.  The license grants are conditioned on compliance with the payment
provisions set forth in the Public Notice dated April 28, 1997, and submission of the required
payment for each license within ten business days of the date of this Public Notice (i.e.,
October 10, 1997).
