C. 20554 In the Matter ) WT Docket No. 95-102 ) Amendment of Part 95 of the ) RM-8499 Commission's Rules to ) Establish a very short distance ) two-way voice radio service ) ORDER DENYING EXTENSION OF REPLY COMMENT PERIOD Adopted: October 12, 1995 Released: October 13, 1995 By the Chief, Private Wireless Division: 1. On August 2, 1995, the Commission released a Notice of Proposed Rule Making (Notice) in the above-captioned proceeding. The Notice established October 16, 1995, as the date reply comments are due. On October 5, 1995, the Personal Radio Steering Group, Inc., (PRSG) requested that the time for filing reply comments be extended 45 days to November 30, 1995. 2. PRSG states that the Notice has received much public attention, and that more than sixty comments have been filed in this proceeding as of October 5, 1995. It expects several dozen persons, organizations, and companies from all over the country will want to reply to the comments. According to PRSG, the two week reply comment period is insufficient for copying documents, distribute them to interested parties around the country, and for composing and submitting reply comments. 3. The Commission does not routinely grant extensions of time. The fact that General Mobile Radio Service licensees are located around the country is not a basis for extending the reply comment period. Many Commission rule making proceedings potentially impact licensees around the country. Also, we find the argument that additional time is needed for copying and distributing comments to interested parties without merit. The Commission's copy contractor routinely provides copies of documents to interested parties across the country. 4. Accordingly, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the request from the Personal Radio Steering Group, Inc., to extend the deadline for filing reply comments in this proceeding IS DENIED. 5. This action is taken pursuant to the authority provided in Section 1.46 of the Commission's Rules, 47 C.F.R. 1.46. FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION Robert H. McNamara Chief, Private Wireless Division
