FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: News Media Contact: May 10, 2001 Meribeth McCarrick at (202) 418-0654 e-mail: mmccarri@fcc.gov BRYAN TRAMONT TO SERVE AS CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU Washington, DC Bryan Tramont will join the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau as Associate Bureau Chief where he will serve as "Chief of Staff" for the Bureau. In this position Tramont will oversee Bureau strategic planning, assist the Bureau Chief in managing the Bureau, and advise the Wireless Bureau Chief on a number of key spectrum policy matters. "I am delighted that Bryan will be joining the Bureau," said Tom Sugrue, Chief of the Wireless Bureau. "The experience and skills he brings make him uniquely suited for this position." Tramont most recently served as Senior Legal Advisor to Commissioner Harold Furchtgott-Roth. In that capacity he advised the Commissioner on wireless, international, technology and enforcement issues. Prior to joining the Commission, Tramont served for five years as an attorney at the law firm of Wiley Rein and Fielding. He also worked as a law clerk for the Honorable Duane Benton on his home state of Missouri's Supreme Court. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Catholic University of America's Communications Law Institute. In addition, Tramont serves as co-chair of the Federal Communications Bar Association's Wireless Telecommunications Committee. Tramont holds a J.D. from the Yale School of Law and an A.B. from the George Washington University. - FCC -
