November 4, 1998 BOB CALAFF JOINS WIRELESS BUREAU AS ASSISTANT BUREAU CHIEF Bob Calaff has been named Assistant Bureau Chief of the FCC's Wireless Telecommunications Bureau. Calaff's responsibilities include working on matters involving the Policy and Enforcement Divisions of the Bureau. Calaff will also be coordinating Wireless Bureau matters with the International Bureau and will serve as a liaison to Commissioner's offices. Calaff joined the Commission in November 1994 as an attorney in the Office of General Counsel. In April 1996, Calaff joined the Telecommunications Division of the International Bureau. From December 1996 to August 1998, Calaff served as Senior Counsel to the Chief of the International Bureau, focussing on international telecommunications and satellite matters. Calaff earned a B.A.with honors from Harvard College in 1985, an M.P.A. from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs in 1990, and a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law in 1992. He was a Zuckerman Fellow at the Columbia School of International and Public Affairs from 1989-1990. Calaff was President of the Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia from March 1996 - March 1997 and has been a member since 1993. Prior to joining the Commission, Calaff was an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Powell, Goldstein, Frazer and Murphy. Calaff lives in Chevy Chase, Maryland. -FCC-
