I'm excited about your proposal for a Low Power Radio Service.
DO NOT open this proposal to educational institutions, they already have
resources to receive grants to start a radio station.
IT'S CITIZENS LIKE MYSELF, who can't afford the high cost of radio
station with over 1000W.
I worked for a university's public radio station for 12 years and their
underwriting cost for spots were still too high for many small business owners.
REMEMBER it's the cost per spot + how many spots run that increases the total
cost.
I've been wanting to own a small radio station for 7 years that is
truly community-minded; helps expose small businesses; and helps to encourage
and maintain community development.
WE NEED YOUR HELP. As you know, BIG CORPORATIONS have purchased almost all of
the radio stations since you changed the ownership # rules. These stations are
bottom line driven not community minded.
Don't let current radio station owners be able to purchase the new Low Power
Radio Station.
Do restrict the number of Low Power Radio ownership to at least 3.
Please give us a window of time to apply for ownership. Don't do first come,
first serve.. I might never get a chance to own one.
