August 31, 1998 FCC WT Docket 98-143 Amateur Service Rules Offices of The Federal Communications Commission 1919 "M" Street, N.W. Rm 222 Washington D.C. 20554 FCC secretary Magalie Roman Salas In regards the new proposals on restructuring of the Amateur licensing I very much agree with the elimination of the Novice and Technician Pus license and just have the Technician class no code as entry level into amateur radio. I do believe in just having two code levels and reducing the 13 wpm for the General and Advance class down to 10 wpm at 5 minutes and 1 minute of sold copy and increase the written element with more technical questions and also to have more diagrams to draw and have to explain what the various components do. For the Extra class I am in favor of reducing the 20 wpm down to 15 wpm with 5 minutes of copy with 1 minute of sold copy and to eliminate all multiple choice question. I am a holder of a Extra class license and have been a VE examiner for the pass 8 years and I have seen how the proctors certification for people with so called disability has been abused and think that there should be something done about this.
