I have a proposal that cw must be made optional for instance, example commercial license has endorsement called radar. If you want to use the code at certain frequency you have the endorsement for that operation. With this format would broaden the bandwidth for all amateur operators. Can a survey of all amateur operators be done to get their input for as to maintaining the code for license I think there is a bias from the organization that proposing to keep the code. Please E-Mail with your comments Thanks Pete Carstens and I have more. From : Douglas M. Casamer, W8DMC (casamerd@lcm,macomb~mi.us~ writes: Sir, Many other Amateur Radio Operators and I are very upset with the new proposals that have been issued to the FCC vra the ARRL. I have taken a lengthy survey here in the Detroit metropolitan area of many fellow radio operators, this then reflects our opinion of the new recommendations. Those of us that are currently General Class Licensed operators have worked very hard to obtain said status. We have had to pass the 13 word per minute CW test. We were required to pass a General Class exam also. Now we will be grouped with Novice and Technician Class structure, but realize all our same privileges! This is simply not equitable or fare after we all worked so hard, it would appear for nothing! We then suggest we should be afforded the privileges as the new proposed Class B, as they are only required to have 10 words per minute and a reduction in testing. The ARRL can not say we realize a. new benefit by affording a few more KC's on the already crowed bands ! You must reconsider this issue and support us that have already earned a General Class License and HF status. Those of us in the current General Class structure feel very strong about this concern. We then would respectfully ask for your support affording us the value of what we have all worked so hard to obtain. As it wold seem we need not do anything and could have obtained the same status by staying a Novice or Technician Class operator. It has been said many will no longer support the ARRL or the industry if this new policy is put into motion without this correction or change. We would please respectfully ask for your support and let our voice be heard; after all we are the majority of the Amateur Radio Industry and now feel that we all have worked and fought for nothing. Only to be grouped with a lower class status that will eventually appreciate the same status we worked so hard to obtain when they need do nothing but 5 words per minute., The spokes Person for a local group of 102 Amateur Radio Operators. Thank you in advance for your support Douglas M Casamer W8DMC
