ANTHONY BUSH NAMED ACTING CHIEF, OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES Washington, DC C. Anthony Bush has been named Acting Chief of the FCC's Office of Communications Business Opportunities (OCBO). He is currently the Chief Economist in the FCC's Office of General Counsel. From April to June 1999 he also served as Acting Chief of OCBO. He will be succeeding Francisco Montero who recently left OCBO to enter private law practice. Chairman William E. Kennard said, "I am delighted that Anthony will be heading OCBO. One of my main goals as chairman has been to ensure that opportunities in the telecommunications industry are available to everyone. I know that, as Chief of OCBO, Anthony will be a powerful advocate for small businesses and other groups that want to participate in the Information Revolution." OCBO was created to expand opportunities for ownership and employment in the telecommunications and broadcasting industries for small business. OCBO works with entrepreneurs, industry, public interest organizations, and individuals to provide information about FCC policies, to promote ownership and employment opportunities, and to encourage wide participation in FCC proceedings. Before coming to the Commission, Bush was the Ford Visiting Assistant Professor in the University of Rochester (NY), Department of Economics. He has been a telecommunications entrepreneur, worked for AT&T, and has taught in the economics departments of Manhattan College and Columbia University. He holds a B.A. in applied mathematics from Claremont McKenna College, Claremont, CA, and an M.A., an M. Phil. and a Ph.D., all in economics, from Columbia University. - FCC -
