AUTOMATED SUBMISSION OF 1997 REGULATORY FEE
PAYMENT DATA USING FCC SOFTWARE

The Regulatory Fees for 1997 are scheduled for payment between the week of September 15-19, 1997. The Commission is again providing a software program for payers of regulatory fees that can be used in place of manual submission of the detailed data.

The software is available to any FCC client filing for fifty (50) or more Regulatory Fees. Users of this software should file the data diskette containing the exported data file with their fee payment and a "Fee Remittance Advice" (FCC Form 159) to:

Federal Communications Commission
P.O. Box 358835
Pittsburgh, PA 15251-5835

A completed FCC Form 159, Remittance Advice, must accompany the data diskettes or they will not be accepted for processing. When completing the hard copy FCC Form 159 and 159-C please use payment type code "DISC". The FCC Form 159 and 159-C have both been revised this year. The revised form includes the requirement for the applicant's taxpayer identification number (TIN) if it is different from the payer's TIN. The requirement is the result of Debt Collection Improvement Act of 1996. There have also been some other modifications to the Form 159 that are explained in detail in the instructions for FCC Form 159/159C. A copy of the revised FCC Form 159/159C is attached for your information. Remitters must use this revised form in order to ensure prompt processing and credit.

All users of the software program must use either an IBM or IBM compatible version only. It will operate only with local (i.e., will not run off of a network) installed Windows 3.x and Win 95 software. Use of any other software or earlier versions will result in incorrect payment of fees due to changes in the FCC Regulatory Fee Schedule. Due to a change in the structure of the fee table, the new database will automatically be installed over previously installed databases with the new Regulatory Fee schedule preloaded.

The software permits the filing of fifty (50) or more Regulatory Fees.

The software is available from two sources:
