PROCEDURES FOR FILING FOIA REQUESTS VIA INTERNET The Federal Communications Commission will begin accepting Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests via the Internet immediately. To file a FOIA request with FCC via Internet send your request to foia@fcc.gov. Each FOIA request should: 1. state that the request is being made under the FOIA; 2. identify as specifically as possible the records that are being sought, to permit their location by FCC staff; 3. include the name and postal and internet addresses of the requester. 4. provide a requestor telephone number, allowing an agency employee processing a request to speak with the requester if necessary; 5. state the limitation on fees that the requester is willing to pay, allowing the requester to modify or withdraw the request if the cost will exceed the requester's limit. The Commission will process these FOIA requests in accordance with the guidelines established in 47 CFR Secs. 0.460 and 0.461. The Commission is not required to respond to FOIA requests electronically. The Commission will provide electronic responses when the information is readily available electronically, and it is the most expedient response mechanism for the Commission.
