NEWS September 5, 1996 KAREN KORNBLUH NAMED ASSISTANT CHIEF OF INTERNATIONAL BUREAU Karen Kornbluh has been appointed Assistant Bureau Chief of the International Bureau. Previously, Kornbluh served as Senior Policy Advisor in the FCC's Office of Plans and Policy where her responsibilities included oversight of major areas of application for the national information infrastructure, including educational technology and children's television policy initiatives. Before joining the FCC, she was senior economic advisor to U.S. Senator John Kerry (D-MA), Chairman of the Foreign Commerce Subcommittee and member of the Telecommunications Subcommittee of the Senate Commerce Committee. Previously, Kornbluh advised Fortune 500 companies on international marketing and manufacturing strategies as a management consultant, first at Telesis and then at William Kent International. Prior to consulting, Kornbluh was an Economist at Alan Greenspan's economic forecasting firm, Townsend-Greenspan & Co., where she designed economic forecasting models and advised clients on economic growth projections. Kornbluh received a master's degree from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and a B.A. from Bryn Mawr College in Economics and English. -FCC-
