June 22, 1994 FCC TO HONOR EMPLOYEES FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE The Commission will hold the Public Service Award Ceremony on June 27, 1994, at 10:30 a.m. in the Commission Meeting Room (room 856). The Commission has chosen eleven employees to receive the FCC's 1994 "Catherine Forster Public Service Award." In May 1990, the Commission initiated the Outstanding Public Service Award Program. This award program was renamed in 1992 as the Catherine Forster Public Service Award to honor Ms. Forster who was slain while on duty at the FOB's New York Field Office in November 1991. This marked the first time that a Commission employee has been killed serving on duty. Ms. Forster had been with the FCC since February 1971 and epitomized the career civil servant who contributes so much to both the Federal service and to our country. We believe naming the Commission's Public Service Award after Ms. Forster is an excellent way to recognize her contribution to the FCC and to honor her memory. This year's awards are being presented to Commission employees who, through exceptional performance of their day-to-day responsibilities or through performance beyond their normal job requirements, have excelled in meeting the Commission's goal of providing excellent service to the public in the most efficient, uncomplicated, timely, and courteous manner possible.
