November 6, 1997 BRIAN BROWDIE NAMED ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE AND INTERGOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS Brian Browdie has been named to be Associate Director, Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs (OLIA). He will assist the Director of OLIA in planning, developing, and coordinating the FCC's legislative program. Since June 1997 Browdie has been Acting Director of the FCC's Office of Public Affairs, where he oversaw the agency's public information activities. He now returns to OLIA, where he served previously, advising the Director with respect to legislation, maintaining frequent contacts with congressional staff, and drafting testimony and views on legislation. In 1996 Browdie received the Chairman's Special Achievement Award for his work with Congress on the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Browdie joined the Commission in 1991 as an attorney with the Mass Media Bureau. Prior to joining the FCC, Browdie was an associate with the law firm of Fox Rothschild in Philadelphia. He is a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College and Cornell Law School. - FCC -
