NEWS June 18, 1997 LYNDON BOOZER TO LEAVE COMMISSION Lyndon K. Boozer, Special Assistant to the Director, Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs (OLIA), since 1993, is leaving the Commission at the end of this month to assume the position of Executive Director, Federal Relations, at BellSouth Corp. Mr. Boozer has worked in OLIA since coming to the Commission in November 1993. There he has helped develop and implement the Commission's legislative program, represented the Commission's positions and policies to Congress, and managed special projects for the Chairman's Office and the Director of OLIA. Prior to coming to the Commission, Mr. Boozer was the Director of Government Relations at the United States Telephone Association. He also worked briefly for former Representatives J.J. (Jake) Pickle (D-TX) and James R. Jones (D-OK). In accepting Mr. Boozer's resignation, Chairman Hundt said, "Lyndon has been a great asset not only to OLIA and my Office, but to the entire Commission, during this pivotal time in telecommunications history. I will miss his keen responsiveness to Congress, exceptional ability to interpret and explain the issues, and his passionate dedication to public service. While I wish him continued success on his new endeavor, I am acutely aware that we at the FCC will miss his enormous contribution." Mr. Boozer is a graduate of Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA, where he majored in Economics and Political Science. Mr. Boozer lives in Washington, DC. - FCC -
